Computer Tear Down
Throwing away office and home computers without properly deleting hard drive data is dangerous because a this data can be recovered. This can lead to credit card numbers, bank account numbers, personal emails and many more things can fall into criminal hands. Furthermore, throwing away computers into a land fill has serious environmental consequences. Electronic waste is of concern largely due to the toxicity and carcinogenic of some of the substances if processed improperly. Toxic substances in electronic waste may include lead, mercury and cadmium. Carcinogenic substances in electronic waste may include polychlorinated biphenyl's. A typical computer monitor may contain more than 6% lead by weight, much of which is in the lead glass of the CRT. Large portions of these materials can be recycled or reused which help the environment and can even generate money from sales and tax write offs.
